Today is April 20th, 2012. While for some it might just be another regular day, for a lot of people it’s national smoke day.

If you just know today as an excuse to get hella high, than allow us to school you.

Back in 1971, a group of teenagers in San Rafael, who called themselves the Waldos, first used the term in connection to a Fall 1971 plan to search for an abandoned cannabis crop that they had learned about. As legend has it, The Waldos designated the Louis Pasteur statue on the grounds of San Rafael High School as their meeting place, and 4:20 p.m. as their meeting time. Hence the term 420. These high school pot heads decided to dub this plan with the phrase “4:20 Louis.”  But after multiple failed attempts to find the crop they eventually shortened their phrase to simply “4:20,” which ultimately evolved into a code word the teens used to mean pot-smoking in general.

If you don’t find the weed you’re looking for, anything will do right?

Now many years later, 41 to be exact, we are still smoking out on April 20th and 420 has become a phenomenon. So to celebrate this joyous, paranoid, cheerful and munchy crazed day, we wanted to highlight how hip-pop gets down with the Mary Jane.

Our folks like Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Soulja Boy and more have all Instagramed pictures of their weed of choice. Soulja got fly in the studio off that Blue Ivy, while others rock that OG Kush.

Snoop Dogg got busy with Willie Nelson, as newcomer A$AP Rocky showed off his two enormous bricks. When you add in the public puffers and other weed lovers, this 420 will be celebrated on Pluto. We trippy man!
