Justin Bieber’s mom Pattie Mallette stopped by the Today show to talk about her short film, Crescendo. And of course, the conversation quickly turned to her son and his relationship with ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez.

“Everybody watches his personal life–we know about his relationship with Selena,” Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie said. “I don’t know if moms get a vote, but are you hoping they keep it going?” she asked.

Justin’s mom was quick to supply a supportive answer. “You know, I just try and support whatever he’s wanting,” she told the host. “I think [Selena is] a sweetheart, and whatever they decide is great.”
Aw! How sweet.
J-Biebs’ mom also weighed in on recent scrutiny surrounding some of her son’s choices lately.
“It’s tough letting go and letting out kids make the mistakes that they need to make,” she explained. “I just have to trust that he’s made good decision in the past, and hopefully he’s learned from some of my mistakes.”

Though mom may be crossing her fingers for a Jelena reunion, she told the Today show that as of late her son’s biggest concern is preparing for his February 9 performance on Saturday Night Live.
“He’s been rehearsing all week and practicing and helping write skits. He’s excited.”
