Before Whitney Houston died, she stepped in front of the camera for the first time in 16 years in her new film, Sparkle.
The movie is slated for release in August, and it stars Jordin Sparks as Sparkle, Carmen Ejogo as Sister and the pop diva as their mother named Emma.

The film follows three sisters who form a successful singing group. During their rise to the top, they must deal with the fall out of fame and drugs.

Whitney was very excited about this project from the get-go, as she tried to get it made previously with the late singer Aaliyah as Sparkle. However, the movie got canned when the “One In A Million” singer died in a plane crash.
