In 2006, Jay-Z entered the Guinness Book of World Records when he performed his seven-city Hangar tour right before he dropped his Kingdom Come album.

So how did Jay enter the record books? He performed the most live shows in a 24-hour stretch. That’s right: the Hangar tour happened within a 24-span and it saw the rapper go from Atlanta to Las Vegas.

It’s one of those cool things we forgot about — until today, when news came out that the band The Flaming Lips plan on breaking Jay’s record by doing eight shows in a 24-hour span.

Pretty cool. Records are meant to be broken.

Lil Wayne Holds The Record For Most Likes On A Facebook Item Within A 24-Hour Span. 

Last February, Oreo decided that they wanted to flex their social media muscle.

The cookie company put up this post:
 
Five hours later, Lil Wayne, one of the most popular rappers in the world, then put up his counter-post:
 
Oreo ended up with 114,619 likes, breaking the record. But by the time Wayne was done he had 588,243 likes, completely crushing and eating the cookie company.

Rihanna Holds The Record For Most Number One Singles In A Year.

Rihanna ruled the pop world back in 2010. The singer had four number one singles that year: “Rude Boy” from her Rated R album, “Love The Way You Lie” from Eminem’s Recovery album, and “What’s My Name?” and “Only Girl (In The World )” from her Loud LP.

Ludacris Participated In The Biggest Group Shower Ever. 
Ludacris joined the Guinness Book of World records in 2008 after he participated in the biggest group shower ever. Luda completed the feat for rocker Tommy Lee’s pro-environment show at the time, Battleground Earth.

Eminem Has The Most Successive Number One Albums.

Eminem has released seven solo albums. Six of those have debuted at the number one spot, the exception being his debut album, The Slim Shady LP.

Twista Used To Be The Fastest Rapper In The World.

For years, the O.G. Twista was in the Guinness World Record book for being the fastest rapper. Since then, Chicago rapper Rebel XD broke Twista’s record in 1998 and Seattle rapper NoClue broke his rapper in 2005 by rapping 723 syllables in 51.27 seconds.

DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince Won The First Grammy Award For Best Rap Performance.

After winning a Grammy for Best Rap Performance for “Parents Just Don’t Understand” in 1988, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince famously boycotted the show when they learned that their award presentation would not be shown on TV.

Madonna Holds The Record For Largest TV Audience.  

The Queen of Pop set the record this year when she performed in front of 114 million viewers during the halftime show at the Super Bowl. That was a larger audience than those who actually watched the game between the New York Giants and The New England Patriots.
