It’s the economy stupid!

With job numbers not looking so good and the economy still staggering, President Barack Obama accused Republicans on Friday of pursuing policies that would weaken U.S. recovery, while at the same time urging Europe’s leaders to prevent an overseas debt crisis from dragging down the rest of the world.

At a White House news conference, Obama expressed his frustrations with Republicans as he has brought forth legislation that would create jobs, but continues to get blocked by Republicans in Congress.

The President said:

“The recipes that they’re promoting are basically the kinds of policies that would add weakness to the economy, would result in further layoffs, would not provide relief to the housing market and would result … in lower growth.”

The President’s latest comments on the economy comes a week after an unemployment report, which found that the unemployment rate had risen slightly to 8.2 percent in May as job creation slowed.
