Former South African president Nelson Mandela is out of the hospital and feeling much better.
He’s also looking much better in these photos, which are the first photographs of the Nobel Prize winner in nine long months.
“Mandela is in good shape and good spirits,” South African president Jacob Zuma said today.
“The doctors gave us a report and of course we saw him. He is looking very good, he is in good shape. We had some conversation with him, we shook hands, we smiled. As you can see he is really up and about and stabilized. We’re really very happy. We think that he is fine.”
Although he looks a little thin following his stint in the hospital due to complications from a lung infection that left him with pneumonia, we’re glad he’s in good spirits and is able to sit upright. Check out the video, here:
