Police say that they have found the weapon they believe killed 13-month-old Antonio Santiago in Brunswick, Ga.
Following leads from Karimah and Katrina Elkins, the accused shooter’s mother and aunt, police were able to locate the weapon in a small pond near the area where the incident occurred.
Police searched a small saltwater pond on Highway 17, near spur 25, with metal detectors starting at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The gun was allegedly found by the Glynn County Police Department Tuesday morning around 8 a.m.
Law enforcement is keeping the gun in saltwater and sending it to a lab for evaluation.
Just this morning, both Katrina and Karimah were arrested on felony charges of lying to the police. The alleged shooter, 17-year-old De’Marquise Elkins, was charged with murder, however, his lawyer says he is one thousand percent innocent.
