Women are the most beautiful creation God has given this planet. In spite of society’s superficial standard of attractiveness, real women consistently show their beauty through their inner strength, grace, and innate ability to turn a boy into a man.

Regardless of whether you agree or not, a woman went through the most immense pain imaginable to give you life, therefore every woman is worthy of your veneration. Unfortunately, Islamic fundamentalists don’t share my sentiments.

EXCLUSIVE BLOG: Congratulations Black America, We’ve Made The KKK Very Proud!

Much like the Christian counterparts, Islamic fundamentalists have allowed a system that was designed to uplift and enlighten humanity to become detrimental to the freedom of those affected by it.

The great French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte once said, “Religion is what keeps the poor from murdering the rich.” Since the days of the Egyptian pharaohs, one of the very first civilizations, religion has been used to subjugate those who are impoverished, profane, and feeble (both physically and mentally).

If you look at Islam, you can still see remnants of the Egyptian style of control.

One of the many disadvantages of being a woman in a Islamic fundamentalist society is a man’s capability to kill and torture you for the slightest aberration from the accepted social paradigm. These horrendous murders are called honor killings.

The most recent reported honor killing occurred in India, when Oghad Singh cut his daughter’s head off because she “acted indecently with another man.”

These atrocities occur all the time in Islamic fundamentalist countries, and more often than not, the murderer is set free, or has to spend one day in jail.

In certain areas, a woman’s family can kill her after she was raped because she has lost her purity and is no longer of value to the family since they can’t marry her off for property and other assets.

In addition, laws against marital rape and spousal abuse are largely absent in the region, and segregation and discrimination remain existent in educational and political institutions.

Ironically, those who subjugate women whilst denying them their basic human rights are completely going against the word of Allah.

The treatment of women in these areas comes from the treatment of women before Islam.

Women were treated like slaves or property. Their personal consent concerning anything related to their well being was considered unimportant, to such a degree that they were never even treated as a party to a marriage contract. Women were used for one purpose, and then discarded. They had no independence, could own no property and were not allowed to inherit. In times of war, women were treated as part of the prize.

Then Islam was introduced and among its many aims, one was to end the subjugation of women.

According to Allah, the most basic right of a woman in Islam is the knowledge and recognition that she never has to ask or demand or fight for her rights, which are guaranteed to her by Allah.

“O You who believe! You are forbidden to inherit women against their will, and you should not treat them with harshness,” (An-Nisa 4:19)

According to Allah, women are equal to men:

O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife (Eve), and from them both He created many men and women and fear Allah through Whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship). Surely, Allah is Ever and All-Watcher over you.” (Al-Nisa 4:1)

According to the prophet Mohammed, women have the right to an education:

“To seek knowledge is obligatory on every Muslim.”

(Declared Authentic By Shaikh Muhammad Naasir-ud-Deen Al-Albaani)

And according to Allah, murder is strictly forbidden save for self-defense.

“That whoever kills a single soul for other than a soul (killed) or for corruption in the Earth, it is as he killed humanity all together, and whoever saves a single soul, it is as though he had saved humanity all together…”

(Quran Surah Al-Ma’lda ayah 32)

So any defense you can come up with for an honor killing is completely asinine. Usually I brush off those blinded by the ostensible dogma of their religion as being ignorant to the true nature of life and forgive them for they know not what they do. In this case, I am obligated as a human to take a stronger stand.

We are obligated to take a stand against this barbaric treatment of God’s most beautiful creation.

We must ensure that all societies mandate that men protect their women, not terrorize and subjugate them. For more information on what you can do for universal women’s rights, visit womenforwomen.org
