Is she serious?!

With the debate already as heated as ever, Republican Jodie Laubenberg‘s recent comments on abortion seem to have done nothing but add fuel to the fire.

Responding to the anti-abortion bill that would give exemptions to rape and/or incest victims who want their pregnancies terminated, Laubenberg stated that this exemption would not be necessary, because these victims could just use rape kits to get rid of the unwanted pregnancies.

“In the emergency room they have what’s called rape kits, where a woman can get cleaned out,” said state Rep. Jodie Laubenberg (R). She then added, “The woman had five months to make that decision, at this point we are looking at a baby that is very far along in its development.”

However, HuffPost Blogger Soraya Chemaly stated that abortions were not the function of rape kits. They are used to collect evidence of the sexual assault, which could later be used to convict the culprit(s).

Laubenberg’s bill, which was passed by State Republicans on Monday, would affect 37 out of the 42 abortion clinics in the state with new regulations that would require the facilities to adhere to the standards of surgical centers.

However, hundreds of protestors have already begun lining up outside the state capital building, awaiting the hearing this Thursday.

When will these Republicans learn to get it together and stop saying these bizarre things to promote their insane agendas?
