Shia LaBeouf is in the September issue of L’Uomo Vogue and he’s dressed phenomenally! Decked out in some of the hottest designers out right now, Shia puts on a mini fashion show for the publication in what appears to be a Medieval-themed spread, photographed by Mark Seliger.

Another fair assessment is that Shia also looks very disheveled in many of these pictures. The Lawless actor is growing his hair and beard to explore a new look and gear up for a new role.

Check out excerpts from the interview below:

On his new scruffy look:

“I’m preparing for my next film with Werner Herzog where I play a hermit: that’s the reason for the long hair and scraggly beard. I even built myself a shed on the mountains.”

On life outside of acting:

“When I’m not on the set, my life is the gym, a light meal, long walks with my dog Brando, and home. I’ve been spending lots of time alone lately.

On his rough childhood:

“I grew up quickly. I’m an only child: I cooked for myself when I was nine because my father was a heroin addict and my mom worked three jobs to support us. There weren’t today’s bullies at school, but we endured military-style hazing designed to humiliate you in front of the others. I was already a man at age ten.”
