Grinders and Grindettes, this by far has been the best week of my fashionable life. Words cant began to capture the excitement and energy that is Fashion Week in New York City. When you think about the love, thoughts, art and talent that goes into every garment that hits those tents, I cant help but feel a great sense of prestige, being invited to the shows! Though this years showcase was bitter sweet due to a couple fashion mishap, and tragedies. First and most noted was the passing of Alexander McQueen. Next would be the final showing at Bryant Park, as Fashion week is headed to the Lincoln Center.

Valentines Day Y-3– So for the Y-3 show it required me to venture away from the tents and head to Park Ave, at the Armory. It was by far the best dressed crowd I had seen to date at Fashion Week. It seemed that folks really put on their Sunday best, all with the thought of impressing Mr Yohji Yammamto. As I was ushered to my seat front row, I felt accomplished. Then a herd a photogs rushed over to me and began flashing their lights, as I began to pose, all ready for this moment I dreamed of, I started to hear the name that they were screaming. ‘DIGGY, OVER HERE, DIGGY, DIG’.

As if I had been awaken from the best dream ever, it dawned on me that the attention was in fact for Diggy Simmons, whom I was seated next to. Feeling like the worlds biggest dufus, I sat back down and kept my head down as if that would shield me from anymore public humiliation. And then she appeared,’Excuse me, can you slide down a little please?’ As I looked at the feet, and thought ‘Why the Hell does this girl have on sandalls,’ and continued the study of this womens body, she had defined legs that seem to go on for days and a tiny frame that sat on top, Then I made eye contact and caught one of the most genuine smiles, It was Ciara, and before I could think to respond, security of the show asked me to move. And to the second seat I went. What was cool even from my second row seat was the laser show that accompanied the fashions. It was hands down the most artistic show I had ever been to.

Check out my favorite looks from the show and my candid pics…

Diane Von Furstenburg  In my mind, there are two types of designers: those that make us think about fashion and its relationship to philosophy and art, and those that make fashion accessible and wearable to the average fashion fan. Each pursuit has its own chal
