The buzz around J. Cole’s debut album is tame compared to the releases of other artists, but with songs like this new one entitled ‘Premeditated Murder’, that should all change very quickly.
Produced by his own hands and ears, J. Cole’s ‘Premeditated Murder’ is an eery introspective force of braggadacio about the pressure of succeeding against the doubters But the song’s strongest moment comes in the hook where J. Cole incorporates a melodic flow a’la 50 Cent. It’s a side of J. Cole’s talent we really haven’t heard, as his hook writing skills are still being developed, but ‘Premeditated Murder’ is a great start. It’s the kind of promise we look for from the game’s newest stars. Get ready for this hook to be stuck in your head long after you’re finished listening to the song.
