The 54th Venice Biennale is upon us and cultural provocateur Pharrell Williams has released images of his contributions to one of the world’s most prestigious art fairs.

Over the weekend, the N.E.R.D. frontman and new creative director of Karmaloop TV released images of “Inside Out,” a life-size glass and feather sculpture of a skeletal angel (plus a smaller 18 inch one)  that’s part of the GLASSTRESS show inside the Berengo Centre for Contemporary Art and Glass in Murano in Venice, Italy.

Pharrell, in a statement released via BBC, said that the idea came from when he was a child.

“Since I was a little boy my wonderous curiosities were based on fictional things that television offered. My mind was crammed pack with creatures fit for a child that were often funny, designed for youth and usually a profitable franchise like cartoons. Even still, I couldn’t stop thinking about angels,” Pharrell said in what can best be described as his artist statement.

The angels were made from mouth blown glass and seek to comment on man’s reach for the stars as divine messengers.

After the break, more images.
