As we approach the anniversary of 9/11, this evening we have been told of a “credible” terror threat for New York City and Washington DC. The White House released information tonight that there they are looking for three people who might be plotting a car bombing with a rented truck. The New York Daily News,
Few details were provided-and no potential targets were citied-although NYPD sources told The News the threat involves a planned car bomb attack in either New York City, or D.C., or both.
One rental truck that originated from an unidentified rental shop is missing, according to officials, who added that authorities are currently searching for the truck in the two cities.
“It is significant and should be taken seriously,” a law enforcement official told The News concerning the potential threat.
Meanwhile, a counterterrorism official told The Associated Press that law enforcement officials have been investigating the intelligence since it was received late Wednesday night.
