Christian Dior has seen its shine tarnish in recent months, what with its head designer John Galliano being fired because of his alleged anti-Semitism. What’s more, talks with Marc Jacobs, who was reportedly groomed to be the replacement of Galliano, collapsed after the designer wanted an astronomical sum for his services.

We’re also hearing that Jacobs wanted to transfer his LV vision to Dior, something Dior wasn’t feeling at all. Many prospective designers are unhappy with how Dior has treated Galliano, the man who is unconditionally responsible for revitalizing the brand. Some believe the brand has been ungrateful.

Despite those troubles, Dior is still making strides, especially in the art world.

Last night, Dior launched a pop-up shop in Miami as part of the kick off for the annual Art Basel Miami Beach Fair. The shop was launched in conjunction with German artist Anselm Riele and will feature mostly accessories like shoes, handbags and wallets. Items from the shop, which is expected to be up for about three weeks, will be available to the general public beginning January 9th.

On hand to kick off the launch of the shop were actress Gabrielle Union and musician and philanthropist Pharrell Williams.

Gabby looked playful in a tiny hot pink mini dress, while Pharrell took his avante garde fashion consciousness up a notch, donning a captain’s hat and red leather jacket.
