Republican Presidential hopeful and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum has shocked the political community in his sweeping win last night!

Santorum, in a sweeping victory, won Missouri (55%), Minnesota (45%), and Colorado (38%). This is shocking considering most polls indicated Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney would come out on top last night.
Furthermore, most polls showed Santorum at third amongst the other Republican candidates in the race.
Santorum’s sweep may have come largely because of the fact he spent so much time caucusing in these states.
“I don’t stand here to be the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney, I stand here to be the conservative alternative to Barack Obama… Mitt Romney has the same positions as Barack Obama.”
He has also been consistently focusing on social issues such as abortion, marriage and the topic of church and state.
Mitt Romney, who called Santorum and congratulated him on his win, showed he is willing to support whichever Republican comes out on top, saying to a Denver Colorado crowd, “When this primary season is over, we’re going to stand united as a party behind our nominee to defeat Barack Obama.”
The path of this Republican nomination process is suddenly unpredictable, that’s for sure.
