R&B singer Tyrese is a man of many talents. Not only is he a Grammy nominated singer, but he’s also an award winning actor, with a resume longer than your average Hollywood actor.

Valentine’s Day is a special day for Tyrese. Not only is it the premiere “day of love,” but it’s also marks the re-release of his latest album Open Invitation.

GlobalGrind chit-chatted with Tyrese about the re-release of his fifth studio album Open Invitation, linking up with TLC front-woman Chilli, and of course Valentine’s Day.

Check out our exclusive interview below!

GlobalGrind: So you’re re-releasing Open Invitation on the day of love.

Tyrese: Absolutely.

We got a chance to see the teaser with you and Chilli. How did you link up with Chilli?

There’s only so many women out here that have this natural beauty thing going on. I think Chilli’s beauty and her innocence and energy is timeless. She has a very sweet and a very reserved energy about her that’s just really, really special. I’ve known her for years but, we’ve never done anything together.

I was just sitting down and it hit me. Chilli! I want to use her for my video, and I moved on it and she showed up, you know. She showed up in a major way.

What was your inspiration in creating “Nothin’ on You?”

Well, I just felt like the time was right now to do a song like this. First of all, I got some great news I just got. My single, “Nothin’ on You,” was just number one added to radio. Ain’t that crazy?

It’s amazing.

This is an unreal time for me musically. It’s unreal. So, number one added to radio, and on February 14, Valentine’s Day, we’re doing the world premiere of “Nothin’ on You” on 106 & Park. And I’m bringing my girl Chilli with me.

So, it’s going to go down on the day of love, on Valentine’s Day.

The day of love, it’s going down. Make sure ya’ll are tuning in to 106 & Park. It’s full throttle. It’s going to be a lot of great energy. I’m doing the world premiere of the “Nothin’ on You” video with Chilli and I’m going to be performing my number one single “Stay” with my band on 106 & Park. It’s going to be a day to remember.
