We’re in the midst of Black History Month, a month in which our nation traditionally takes the opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge a very rich, elaborate and distinctive culture.

Rummaging through the Internet, we discovered a very interesting blog created by and for FSU students. Florida State University is located in the city of Tallahassee, FL and ironically sits across town from Florida A&M University, a historically Black institution.

The blog, titled FSUacb, we presume, is a site that was initially established for the purposes of social networking. However, we can’t help but notice all the racial posts instead. Sharp utterances and contradictory judgements are sporadically dispersed all throughout the forum. The university has long taken pride in being a very liberal and open-minded institution of higher learning… and in indeed, it is. Indubitably, every institution has its messed up, narrow-minded set of people, right?
We like to think so. We HAVE to think so. Because some of the things that were casually expressed on FSUacb are sentiments of a very unyielding state of mind. It’s very disheartening to view those things from a generation that’s supposed to be evolving and progressing.
