An 8-year old unidentified Bronx boy was shot in the Bronx last night while standing in front of a bodega with his mother.

The NY Post reports the incident to have occurred at 7:55 EST when the unidentified suspect was speeding in a bicycle and fired a shot towards the bodega; wounding the small boy’s shoulder in the Soundview section of the Bronx.

Police believe that one of the two men standing inside the bodega on Randall Avenue during the shooting was the intended target.

Fortunately, the boy is in stable condition in New York’s Jacobi Hospital.

Witness Samuel Calcano spoke on the incident saying:

“I saw the kid. He was holding his arm. He was shocked, he was scared. They were telling him, You got shot.”

Authorities are currently investigating the shooting and are in the process of questioning the two men standing inside the bodega during the shooting.

We hope that the gunman is caught and that the boy has a successful recovery.
