President Barack Obama opened his re-election bid yesterday with rallies drawing Democratic supporters from far and wide.

President Obama addressed the crowd of thousands with speeches that highlighted his accomplishments over his three and a half year term thus far and argued that America cannot afford the “adopt Republicans’ bad ideas” and called this election a “make or break moment for the middle class.”

The first of the rallies was held at the Schottenstein Center on the campus of The Ohio State University in Columbus.

Sunday’s rally marked Obama’s 21st visit to Ohio since taking office as Ohio and it unusually low unemployment rates have become a crucial battleground state in recent presidential elections.

Obama addressed the crowd for 36 minutes before closing it off with a reiteration of his 2008 campaign slogan, saying “If people ask what this campaign is about, you tell them it’s still about hope, it’s still about change.”
