What is up with Usher and Rick Ross all of a sudden? First it was “Lemme See” and now it is Rozay’s “Touch ‘N You.” Got to hand it to Rico Love on this track: This is a smash that will that will help Rick at least crack into the top 20, chart wise. When you listen to this record, though, it is like watching the Big three in Boston at work. We touched on Rico, but Rozay’s verses mixed with Usher’s great hook is what really gives this record its moxy. Both artists provide just enough of what they do best. Enjoy!

It’s so refreshing to see Sean Kingston back on the scene after his almost tragic accident. This week, a new record appropriately titled “Back to Life” hit the streets. As always, the maestro J.R. Rotem comes up with an unbelievable track for Kingston to pen another hit. The tempo of this record, the beat and the feature rapper T.I. all combine for the perfect summer time record.

Skills, skills and originality — that’s the pure essence of an MC in this hip-hop game. With that being said, listen to this fresh new banger from Childish Gambino, “We Ain’t Them.”  Gamz has been on somewhat of a world radio tour, displaying his vast verbal thesaurus from V-103’s Greg Street in the ATL to Funkmaster Flex’s show on NYC’s Hot97. Even in the far west reaches of LA, at Power 106, radio has shown love to this rising MC. If you haven’t caught one of his live shows, you must sleep for dinner. Childish Gambino is what hip-hop music needs right now — with all the hot new hood sh*t getting the spotlight, simply put, balance. New music from Gambino means a new project is near. Stay tuned.

This kid Austin Brown keeps putting out incredible music. He and his band’s, The BackPack Kid, brand of new age futuristic funky R&B music is really catchy. Austin’s latest song, “Bass and Drum,” is yet another example of this fresh style that makes him a standout student in the newest class of singers. Brown should be applauded for trying to carve his own niche in music, instead of using his super famous bloodlines. That said, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. and The Jackson family talent tree is here in full display.

And it don’t stop, and you don’t quit…Chief Keef is going to make it his summer. Weekly he is putting out music that has the streets hotter than the devil in a Brazilian sauna. If this was baseball, this kid is a nine-man lineup himself. This week it is “Understand Me” featuring Young Jeezy. As far as rider music, this is one of the hardest joints Keef has floating in the streets. “Understand Me,” long before Rick Ross “rapped” about being a kingpin, Jeezy’s true stories of hustle became legendary to kids like Keef. This is real dude rap for only the realest. Suburbs and part timers beware…”Understand Me.”

Until We Read Again.
