A$AP Rocky burst onto the music scene seemingly overnight, but nothing for the Harlem rapper was a dream or instant like a classic true Hollywood story.

With many nights spent in the studio and long days trying to make it out the hood, A$AP Rocky’s journey to success isn’t that of your average rapper.

In an in-depth interview, GlobalGrind sat down and got the chance to understand who A$AP Rocky is, what he stands for, and his musical ambitions.

A$AP dished on everything from his long-awaited debut album LongLiveA$AP, to rock star moments with Danny Brown, friends turned foes, money, newfound fame, and of course, the women.

Check out our exclusive interview with A$AP Rocky below!

I’m just going to ask you a lot of random questions about your favorite things.

No problem. I prefer random questions than the same damn questions. I love this interview right now. You’re not asking the same old, “Was I named after Rakim?” Questions you already know the answer to. I don’t understand why they continue to ask me these questions, so thank you!

What did you eat for breakfast this morning?

I didn’t eat breakfast yet.

Somebody needs to feed you!

I don’t have any females over here. Men don’t know how to cook. I don’t trust men with my health.

What’s your favorite thing to eat?

Not to be picky…I contradict myself. Right now, I’m a vegetarian. Then, I’m a pescatarian. Lots of fruits, vegetables, fish, vitamins, proteins. I’m not messing with no meat at the moment. I got turned off a couple weeks ago.

What’s your favorite liquor to drink?

Believe it or not, I like Hennessey. I like Ciroc – Coconut Ciroc. That’s about it.

What was your favorite toy to play with when you were a kid?

I had this X-Men figure. His name was Sabretooth. Him and Wolverine, I used to play with all day.

If I sent you to a deserted island, and you could only bring three albums with you, what three albums would you bring?

The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Bone Thugz-n-Harmony’s E. 1999 Eternal, and Wu Tang Clan’s 36 Chambers.

If I were the Genie from Aladdin, and I could give you three wishes, what three wishes would you wish for right now?

You don’t want to ask me that, because that’s when the punkness really comes out of me. I would ask for World Peace and I would probably ask for another Tupac album.

That’s a good one though. We need one more Tupac album. How many we got right now?

Like 105! Or I would definitely ask for another Roc-A-Fella album. My third wish would be for eternal wishes.

If you could be any dinosaur, what dinosaur would you be?

Probably a pterodactyl. They fly right?

Yeah.

Even though that’s an ancient bird. Technically, it was still part of the dinosaur age, so technically it’s a dinosaur.

Yeah, the pterodactyls used to get busy.

I want to be pterodactyl because I could really fly, and see all over everything. Yeah, I’d be a pterodactyl. That’s an ugly dinosaur, an ugly bird.

What’s your favorite thing to do besides music? What does Rocky do when the music’s off?

I love creating visuals for videos. As soft as it sounds, I love shopping. I guess that’s why girls love me so much because I know what they like, what I like, plus what they should like. It’s just one of those things. I have a really good taste for eye-ing fashion. I like shopping and visuals, so basically videography and shopping.

Do you remember what your last dream was about?

I actually do. It was about a girl. In reality I know the girl. We got kind of personal. We had relations, but I can’t be with the girl due to life. In the dream for some reason I was thinking about her, but I was with her, and we understood that we couldn’t be together. Ain’t that some corny sh*t? I’m a deep motherf*cker! (laughs)
