Dr. Dre’s Detox album is something like an urban legend, a myth, or in the words of Compton rapper Game, Dr. Dre’s Detox album is like “Jesus.”
It’s been over 10 years since the rumored follow-up album to Dr. Dre’s classic, 2001, was initially announced, and a decade later, there’s still no word on a Detox album.
In a recent interview with VIBE, Game dished about Dr. Dre’s long-awaited album, Detox, stating:
“Will you ever really get to see Jesus? It’s like a hip-hop Jesus.” While we’re at it, let’s add Jay Elect’s debut to the list of mythical albums releasing “soon.” “Dre’s a hard guy to please. He’s so critical… If he doesn’t become 100 percent happy, then we’ll probably never end up hearing Detox. I’ll say never.”

So it seems Dr. Dre’s quest for perfection may prohibit the world from ever hearing one of the most talked about “mythical” albums to date.
