If these Smithsonian ads pairing musicians, conquerors and dead presidents were real, we’re sure more young people would be interested in visiting the museum in Washington, D.C.

Sadly, 50 Cent will not be shilling for the Smithsonian. The ads were made by Jenny Burrows and Matt Keppler (aka Cargo Collective) and were part of their portfolio while at school.

Burrows was slapped with a cease and desist letter from the museum and she has since removed its logo and name from the ads. (Burrows was the ad art director, Keppler, the graphic designer).

“I wanna say thanks to everyone for the support, comments, compliments, and feedback,” Burrows said in a statement on the Cargo Collective website. “It’s been a crazy adventure and I hope people still enjoy these as a campaign for a generic museum for now. Unless there are any awesome museums who are interested in using these as a real campaign! Contact me!”

This being the internet, we found a copy of the original and plan to decorate our studio apartment with one.

After the break, check out Ghenghis Khan and Brett Michaels as you’ve never seen them before.
