A man, who has not been identified, was killed by an oncoming New York subway train yesterday morning as he tried to retrieve something off of the tracks.

According to CBS News, the man was hit by a southbound D train at the 72nd St. and Central Park West stop, when he went down into the tracks to pick something up.

Authorities came to rescue the man after the incident, but he was pronounced dead once he was taken to St. Luke’s hospital on the Upper West side.

Investigators have no yet figured out what the man was trying to reach on the tracks.

Passengers of the A train were redirected to the 1, 2, and 3 subway lines, and the C and D trains were affected as well.

It seems like these subway train incidents are happening more often. We pray for the family of the man who was killed.
