Back in 2011, a Brooklyn mother of twelve named Zurana Horton was fatally shot, minutes after picking up her 11-year-old daughter from school. The trial to seek justice for her murder has begun. Jurors were shown a graphic video of the mother being shot in broad daylight while other parents and children tried to hide from the gunfire. Two people, including an 11-year-old girl, were injured.
The gunfire is reported to be a result of a gang rivalry between Brownsville gang 8 Block and Young Guns.
Andrew Lopez, 20, confessed to being the rooftop sniper who was following the instructions of his older brother Jonathan Carrasquillo, 24.
NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly said, “We’re certainly pleased with the fact that the investigation has identified Mr. Lopez and he’s made statements and apparently made a full confession.”

Horton was engaged to be married at the time of her death. May she rest in peace.
