Immigration is the mother bringing her unborn child to America for a better education.

Immigration is the father who toils all day, without complaint, because the conditions and freedoms are better; even though the pay may not be.

Immigration is the oldest son who, for the first time in his life, leaves his family behind with hopes of supporting them with the endless opportunities he dreams of finding here.

And immigration is that girl you know, who could be motherless if Congress doesn’t act.

Immigration is Plymouth Rock. Immigration is Jamestown. Immigration is Ellis Island. Immigration, however forced, is black history. Immigration is family. Immigration is America.

But immigration was never the face of terror. And to compare what has built and sustained this nation for centuries with the cowardly acts of those who wish to take our freedoms away is both insensitive and, ironically, un-American.

Is that what you are, Sen. Chuck Grassley, (R-Iowa)? Anti-American?

I won’t subject you to the same titles and tags that you so mindlessly threw on an entire group of law-abiding people, but I will dangle it over your head so that you can see what it might feel like to be labeled or boxed with what you are not.

When you said this at last week’s immigration hearing…

“Given the events of this week, it’s important for us to understand the gaps and loopholes in our immigration system.”

…did you not understand that those bombing immigrants you spoke of were, in fact, legalized?

Or might you have considered the fact that your little comment suggests that most immigrants who wish to join this great nation only wish to destroy it and our people?

Do you realize, that more often than not, it’s our own people…the very citizens with rights to this land, who intend on inflicting pain on our children, terrorizing our women and aiding in the destruction of our resources?

And what must we do with those citizens? Kick them out?

Maybe if you and you friends, who are also using this recent tragedy to filibuster progressive and beneficial immigration reform, took the time to actually respect those who lost their lives and focus on healing our great city of Boston, you would see that the two really have nothing to do with one another.

And maybe, just maybe if you’d stop to think about your shameless political agenda, you could see how this association could ultimately derail the dreams and futures of millions.

You can’t fit a square into a circle. The two are not related.

It is only my hope that these antics to tie the Boston Marathon bombers with the communities of loving families who contribute to this economy more than you ever will, will fail.

We see you for what you are. Desperate. Casting fear over America won’t work this time.

Immigration reform will not fall in the face of your domestic terror.

Because when it does, we’ll all fall with it.
