The violence in Chicago has been taken to another level, over the weekend over 40 people were shot and seven killed. From Friday night to Monday morning violence raged throughout the city, at least six people were shot near the annual Puerto Rican festival in Humboldt Park. 

A 15-year-old girl was among the injured. Police are saying that the violence is caused by  gang violence which has raised considerable in the last months.

Just yesterday a one year old baby was one of five people shot at a University Village Father’s Day cookout. The one year old girl was grazed in the face and taken to the University of Illinois Medical Center. Four other men were shot and one of them was the babies father who is in critical condition. The Chicago gun violence numbers are staggering, some are reporting at least 50 people were shot and eight dead.
