Pop starlet Demi Lovato recently revealed she wants to go in a more R&B/soul direction for her third album, and she plans on recruiting Drake and Trey Songz to assist with her musical transition.

The news came as a bit of a shock to fans of Demi Lovato‘s sugary sweet pop/rock tunes. It also came with a hearty laugh from fans of R&B who scoff at the idea that the Disney-affiliated singer could pull it off.

Don’t let those Mickey Mouse ears fool you, folks. Sure, she won’t be knocking down Mary J. Blige any day soon — she wouldn’t dare try — but Demi has what it takes to have a viable career as a contemporary R&B/pop star.
