Michelle Williams, formerly of the hit group Destiny’s Child, is loving her new life as an actress. GlobalGrind had the wonderful opportunity of speaking with Michelle about her acting ambitions, musical endeavors, and of course her relationship with Beyonce and Kelly Rowland. Although music is her first love, Michelle loves the challenge of acting. Michelle is in a David E. Talbert play ‘What My Husband Doesn’t Know,’ and dishes about her love for the stage.

GlobalGrind: You star in David E. Talbert’s new play “What My Husband Doesn’t Know” and you kind of play a sexy temptress named Lena. Can you tell us how Lena is different from other characters you played in “Aida,” “Chicago” “The Color Purple?”
Michelle Williams: Of course this play of DT’s is probably one of the most contemporary characters I’ve ever played. I wouldn’t say she’s a temptress at all I just think she had one moment of feeling neglected and abandoned and she allowed someone else to fill that void. Other than that Lena is really a good wife and good mother. She holds the house down while her husband is always gone. She’s like every other woman in the world and holds the house down if she has a husband who works and is gone all the time you know? Especially if he forgets stuff like her birthday then there are going to be some problems (laughter).
Typically people say that women and men cheat for different reasons. Do you believe that to be true?
You can’t put things past women but I think it takes a lot for a woman to cheat. A good woman at least you know?
Tell us a little more about the character Lena Summer and what the audience can expect from her.
Well, Lena is a great wife and mother. Very confident, very funny and just loving. She’s everything a man would want.
We’ve seen some pictures and video of you and Beyonce and Kelly and Solange out for Kelly’s birthday. It was really nice seeing you all together. A lot of people probably ask you this but will you all ever be collaborating on another album any time soon or even just working together behind the scenes on a project?
No, not any time soon. That was just to celebrate Kelly’s birthday. Every now and then we’re able to have a girls day out or girl’s night out, just eating dinner or meeting up at someone’s house. That day the paparazzi just happened to catch us.
Do you miss collaborating with them?
Absolutely. Absolutely. I just miss the chemistry of being around the girls but I think we’ve gotten used to it now it’s been maybe seven years since our last album.
What really inspired you to start acting?
As a young girl I was in the creative and performing arts department of my school in junior high and high school so we had theater we had dance we had everything related to the arts. So I think I was prepared.
