Last night at the Spike TV Scream 2010 Awards the ever-interesting musical artist, M.I.A. showed up a little more covered up than usual.
The controversial artist who is notorious for her radical style showed up in a colorful burqua with lyrics from her amazing hit ‘XXXO’ and some album art with some sexy gold-studded black heels.
If her choice of dress wasn’t a statement in itself, M.I.A. definitely gave the public something to talk about when she flipped the bird a few times for the cameras. However what makes this choice so controversial is the argument behind it.
M.I.A. is an amazing artist with an amazing cause, combating the fear that comes with ignorance of the Islam faith and culture. It may not have been the favorite outfit of the night, but we do love that she used that opportunity to speak out on something she believed in.

For her performance, however, she changed into a more westernized outfit. She still rocked something a little strange with her wacky glasses, blue wig, pink baggy pants and bright yellow top, M.I.A couldn’t stay away from color even if she tried. She performed her hit ‘XXXO’ and she rocked the stage.
