To honor his work in spreading hip hop culture to Paris, President and CEO of KWL/Def Jam Enterprises, Kevin Liles, has just been awarded the Médaille de la Ville de Paris. It’s the highest honor a person can get for adding even more substance to Parisian culture, and was given to him while he was in Paris serving as the Honorary President of Paris Hip Hop 2010, the fifth annual celebration of Parisian hip hop culture.

Liles is in good company. Previous recipients of the award include Nobel Prize winner, Linus Pauling, fashion designer Valentino, actress Jane Fonda, and fashion designer Gianni Versace. Kevin Liles fits right in. He is the former president of Def Jam Recordings and has worked as the executive vice president for both Island Def Jam Music Group and Warner Music Group. He left the position in September 2009 to start his own company, KWL Enterprises.

Liles recently orchestrated a new partnership with 4mm games, launched by former Rockstar Games founders Jamie King and Gary Foreman. 4mm’s first release, the highly anticipated  Def Jam Rapstar is scheduled for October 5, 2010.

Great works deserve recognition.
