Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-TX) announces that the 14th amendment which allows all persons born in America to have citizenship, is actually subjecting us to terrorist threats. On top of supporting unwarranted harassment by racial profiling in Arizona, Gohmert wants to racially profile unborn babies just in case they come out with suicide bombs attached to them right out of the womb. His argument is simply that immigration laws that are clearly discriminatory like the Arizona Immigration Law shoud be legimitized by claims based on paranoid conjectures. Gohmert believes that immigrants come to America to gain citizenship, then come back 20 years later grown up as terrorists in order to attack us, based on an unverifiable conversation that he had with an FBI agent.

‘We owe it to Arizona and the United states to enforce the borders. There are people coming into this country who want to destroy our way of life. I talked a FBI agent who said they were looking at terror sales overseas who have figured out how to game our system and it had appeared that they would have young women who became pregnant would get them into the United States to have a baby. They wouldn’t even have to pay anything for the baby, and would return back where they can be raised and coddled as future terrorists and then one day 20, 30 years down the road they could be sent in to destroy our way of life because they have realized how stupid we are being to allow the enemy to game our system, hurt our economy, get set up in a position to destroy our way of life, and we won’t do anything about it. We’ll even sue a state that tries to do something about it’

Congressman Louis Gohmert (R-Texas) is serving his third term in the House of Representatives, he is notorious for his radical rhetoric. Gohmert’s tactic is no different from Bush’s fear mongering strategy of concocting hypothetical and extremist situations to stir up fear which puts citizens in a vulnerable state of mind much like the rainbow scale of terorrist threats back in 2003.
As a solution Gohmert demands that, ‘The Fourteenth Amendment’s definition of citizenship hinges on two criteria. For someone to be a U.S. citizen they must both be born or naturalized in the United States and “subject to the jurisdiction thereof.” He is proposing that only children born to legal parents be considered American citizens. If we were to retroactively consider this, NONE of us would be American. How can America forget that it is a nation made of immigrants who invaded Native American land appropriated through genocide and old school terrorism?
