What can be as hard as building a business but worth more than a business? A relationship! Not the typical friendly hi and bye relationship, but that ride or die type. Where you know you always have someone rooting for you and that has your back. As entrepreneurs and hustlers, who has time for that? We always hear that it’s money over everything, including mates. We wanted to put a stop to that notion and called up Paul Brunson to jump on The Phat Startup Show. Paul is an entrepreneur, speaker, best selling author and killing it in the relationship space as a matchmaker and thought leader. Oh yeah, he’s also the co-host of a show called Lovetown, USA on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

Paul is a NY native and grew up during what many claim is the golden era of hip-hop. He started his career chasing that paper by ways of investment banking. After racking up some items many dream of, he realized it was more to it than money. His impact was what drove him. He wanted to focus on adding value to others. After reading Reginald Lewis’ book, he saw the world in a different way and decided to become indispensable. So the entrepreneur in him would take over his life.

Paul schools us on finding your passion. He tells us, “You are never going to read a book and figure out your passion.” So how do you find your passion? Begin by doing everything and learning as you go. He fills us in on figuring out our passions through experience and how he has done it. He tells us, “Don’t just go out and do it, try to lead it, go out and be a creator of it.” He also fills us in on why no one is self made and why relationships matter. He also touches upon owning your own content and platform.

As a matchmaker, Paul knows how to build business and marital relationships. He tells us, “The key to make the dream work is team work.” He tells us why the old hip-hop saying of “Money over everything,” shouldn’t be the case. He speaks about the value of having solid relationships to deal with the down days, but also to push you ahead.
