Amid pushes for the FBI to examine whether George Zimmerman committed any civil rights crimes, previously filed FBI documents have been uncovered that suggest the shooting was not racially motivated.

Apparently, Sanford police detective Chris Serino told FBI agents last year that Zimmerman followed 17-year old Trayvon Martin because his attire fit the profile of gang members and robbers in the neighborhood.

Serino told the FBI that there had been several burglaries in the area, and that gang members in the community “typically dressed in black and wore hoodies.” “When Zimmerman saw Martin in a hoody, Zimmerman took it upon himself to view Martin as acting suspicious,” Serino said, while describing Zimmerman as “overzealous.”

Serino elaborated saying Zimmerman has, “a little hero complex, but not as a racist.”

Pretty sure “hero” is the last word anyone would use to describe Zimmerman.
