Tupac had a number of songs that could really resonate with everyone – he was all about conveying a message.
Rap-Up linked up with Jhene Aiko for Rap-Up Sessions, where she performed an acoustic rendition of Tupac’s uplifting homage to women, “Keep Ya Head Up.” Aiko was a huge fan of Pac growing up.
“I think he’s a global icon for speaking your mind, being controversial, and just having something to say in your music,” she told Rap-Up TV. “He had it all — the look, the music, and he really stood for something. Even if you just wanna make the world happy or make ‘em dance, it should be for a reason and not just for personal gain, and I think he really took responsibility for that. He knew the power in music.”
And even though the 25-year-old songstress sings “Keep Ya Head Up,” she has a rap alter-ego called J. Hennessy.
Jhene Aiko will drop her upcoming EP Sail Out later this summer.
