MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry decided to rock some unusual jewelry to protest against the anti-abortion legislation passed by Texas lawmakers last week.
Tampon earrings.
The earrings, which were made by her producer, were worn in a symbol of solidarity for those protesting in Texas, after security at the Texas Capitol in Austin temporarily banned the feminine product from the building in fear that protestors would hurl them at lawmakers.
But guess which items could still be taken inside the building? Guns. Go figure…
In recent weeks, Texas lawmakers have passed legislation that will ban abortions after 20 weeks, decrease the amount of abortion clinics from around 70 to six, and are trying to introduce a “fetal heartbeat” bill that will criminalize abortions after six weeks.
And…as if adding insult to injury…they have banned tampons from the courthouse.
