MTV News caught up with A$AP Rocky and Francesco Carrozzini on the set of A$AP’s video for “Phoenix.” The single is a record off A$AP’s album LongLiveA$AP. The visual features Michael K. Williams and Joan Smalls playing a couple who gets into an escalated argument.

The Harlem rapper and “Phoenix” director Francesco Carrozzini discussed the concept behind the video

Here’s what A$AP had to say about his new video:

“This tale of a Phoenix is it dies and is reborn in it’s own ashes. So metaphorically we wanted to manifest that into my video”

Francesco Carrozzini also shared his views on the project, saying:

“With a talent like this [A$AP Rocky] you just want to make something that people will remember and we were able to involve Michael K. Williams and Joan Smalls in the video too.”
