Detroit rapper Danny Brown has a lot of pride for his hometown, and he wants his fellow Detroit rappers to carry the city with him.

During a recent interview with Fader, Danny Brown discussed Detroit’s bankruptcy problem and the issues that plague his city. During the interview, Danny mentioned Detroit rapper Big Sean and revealed that many people in the hoods of Detroit no longer consider Big Sean a Detroit native.

“You listen to how I talk about Detroit, and you listen to how a rapper like Big Sean talk about Detroit, and it’s like we’re talking about two different cities. He went to the best high school in the city, you know, he probably was real spoiled or sheltered, so it’s like two different worlds. He can look at it and talk about guap, and we don’t have any….A lot of people in Detroit don’t consider him that either. They say he from L.A. now. He ain’t been to the hood in years, and I wouldn’t either if I was him, to be honest. It’s not a bad thing. I’m in the hood every day now, so I see the faces, I see the desperation.”

Hmmm…interesting.

Danny Brown is currently readying his forthcoming new album, Old, which is due out later on this year. On the other hand, Big Sean is set to release his sophomore album, Hall Of Fame, on August 27.
