If you need proof that miracles happen everyday, look no further than baby Isabella Poole.
Isabella’s mother, Rachel Poole, was attacked in her Texas home last week while on FaceTime with her deployed military husband. A man who owed Justin Pele Poole money entered the home and stabbed the pregnant woman multiple times.
Doctors determined that baby Isabella had to be delivered via Caesarean section because of her mother’s wounds. She was placed in the NICU shortly after and Poole, who is now blind in one eye and may have to undergo eye socket reconstruction surgery, had yet to meet her baby.
But on Monday, Poole was finally able to hold her baby at the University Medical Center where she is recovering. Dad Justin Pele Poole, back from his deployment in southwest Asia, was there to capture the magical moment.
Yesterday, Poole spoke to the media about her recovery and giving birth to her daughter under the tragic circumstance.
“I think the recovery is going pretty well, we have an amazingly strong daughter who is absolutely gorgeous,” Rachel said. “It means the world, just being able to see her and know that, through everything, she’s doing just fine.”
As for her attacker, Fort Bliss soldier Corey Bernard Moss, 19, he has been charged with criminal attempted capital murder and is being held on a $150,000 bond.
