Miley Cyrus is the breakout pop star of 2013. There’s no more denying it.

The singer has spent most of the year topping the charts with her two huge singles “We Can’t Stop” and “Wrecking Ball.”

Over the past couple of weeks, the singer has had to concede the number one spot to other big songs, like Lorde’s “Royals.”

But now she’s back.

“Wrecking Ball” is number one again, and it’s all thanks to a number of viral videos spoofing the song, including Stephen Kardynal’s infamous one.

Viral videos can be very important to an artist’s shelf life. A couple of months ago, we saw Kanye West’s Late Registration album cut “Gone” chart because of that video of a woman dancing and quitting her job with the aforementioned track as her theme song.

Miley should give the Internets a plaque.
