It’s the 4th of July holiday weekend, the official halftime of the 365 day year. The BBQ’s are hot and the music is sultry. Peep this new LOX “You Remind Me” track that features a sulty Sevyn Streeter and a heavy dose of Mary J Blige’s sampled voice. Fans of early 90’s Mary will instantly recognize the original track on this. Sheek, Jada and Styles haven’t missed a step since Money, Power & Respect.
Anytime Jeezy and Jay Z have graced a track together it has been nothing short of classic. You can take it all the way back to Jeezy’s freshman days on “Go Crazy.” Their latest song “Seen It All” won’t be any different. It’s the manifesto of any street king or D Boy. If you’ve walked the shoes then you understand those blues. Expect to hear  “Seen It All “rattling out car trunks in a hood near you.

Hip-hop is missing balance: There’s too much ratchedness and too many party records. What about those conscious, “make you think,” “let’s take a stand” records? This week CYHi The Prynce dropped his “Huey” remix with Royce da 5’9 and Joell Ortiz and it’s lyric to go. It’s a great message interwoven with solid wordplay. CYHi is G.O.O.D. Music’s forgotten 6th man.

Not too many people sip Old English (the poor mans 6 pack) these days. But Freddy Gibbs, Young Thug, and A$AP Ferg most definitely spit 40 oz rhymes on their record with the same namesake, “Old English.” This will be featured on that new Mass Appeal compilation that will also feature a track from the late Pimp C. Coming early September!

Bow Wow has always been Shad Moss, even when he was Lil Bow Wow. Bow has grown all up in front of a generation of music fans to become a Cash Money ‘Millionario’ with the likes of Weezy, Drake and of course Nicki. On his latest track Ya Heard, Bow shows up under his government name Shad along with Problem.
