The demise of New York City hip-hop has been well documented.

It’s also somewhat exaggerated. Because, despite what you might hear, there are still plenty of New York City rappers making innovative music. One of the guys killing it is Emilio Rojas, who is originally from Rochester, but now lives in Manhattan.

Emilio has been making the rounds for a couple of years now. However, his buzz has never been higher after he released his latest tape, Zero Fucks Given, back in May.

From that tape is one of Emilio’s biggest records: his Washington Heights anthem “167.”

The rapper dropped by the GlobalGrind offices recently and we had a pretty in-depth conversation about everything from the New York City rap scene, to XXL’s Freshmen cover.

Check out the interview above.
