H&M is taking on the fashion norm in a major way.
The retailer has launched a new campaign to promote eco-friendly fashion through recycling, and as positive as the message is, the model who stars in the campaign makes it all the more powerful. Mariah Idrissi is the first woman to wear a hijab in a global ad.
The 23-year-old hails from London, and she’s gorgeous. She was reportedly discovered on Instagram and handpicked to star in the “Close The Loop” campaign. The model spoke to Fusion and described the gig as a big achievement: “It always feels like women who wear hijab are ignored when it comes to fashion. Our style, in a way, hasn’t really mattered, so it’s amazing that a brand that is big has recognized the way we wear hijab.”
The campaign also features a group of Sikh men, as well as plus-size models and an amputee model. Check out the full video below.
