Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie first look images

Detective Adrian Monk is back! This week (October 10), Peacock announced that the eight-time Emmy award-winning show’s follow-up film will premiere later this year. Click inside to see when you can expect to see it!

Tony Shalhoub will return to star in the role that won him three Emmys (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series) in the upcoming Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie. In the film, Monk returns to solve one last, very personal case involving his beloved stepdaughter Molly, a journalist preparing for her wedding.

In a joint statement, executive producers Andy Breckman, David Hoberman and Randy Zisk said “It’s been twelve years since the world has seen a fresh installment of Monk. The world has changed mightily in those intervening years and MONK 2023 reflects the changing world. We’re so delighted to have made a movie version of Monk, and we are thrilled that every one of our stars were so enthusiastic about coming back. But in coming back, we wanted to do a film that was worthy of our legacy. Mr Monk’s Last Case is a story that is powerful, emotional, funny, heartwarming, and has something to say about the human condition. And it will be both familiar and surprising.”

Alongside Shalhoub, Ted Levine (Captain Leland Stottlemeyer), Traylor Howard (Natalie Teeger), Jason Gray-Stanford (Lieutenant Randy Disher), Melora Hardin and Hector Elizondo (Dr. Neven Bell) all reprise their roles from the original series. Caitlin McGee and James Purefoy join as new cast members.

Mr. Monk’s Last Case was written by series creator Andy Breckman. It was directed by Randy Zisk, who also executive produced and directed episodes of the television series. Shalhoub serves as an executive producer in addition to Breckman, Zisk and David Hoberman, who had the same responsibilities for the critically acclaimed show.
