Whether on TikTok or beyond, it has almost been impossible to escape the infectious sounds of Jersey and Philly club music over the past year. Every week it feels like there’s a new trending Jersey or Philly club hit! Originating in both cities in the early 2000s, the genres have become popular on TikTok thanks to artists like Jersey’s own Cookie Kawaii (“Vibe (If I Back It Up)”) and Bandmanrill (“Shake It”) and Philly’s own 2RARE (“Rare’s Room”) and Philly Goats (“Get Off The Wall”). Not only have the energetic beats had the TikTok community rocking their hips, they also have caught the attention of some of the biggest artists in music. These artists tapping into the club genre has led them to landing viral Billboard charting hits.
