With the kick off of Pride Week in New York City and the Supreme Court rulings this week, it has been a triumphant 7 days for the LGBT community, but a damper was placed above the triumph last night at the BET Awards.
Gender-bending Internet personality sensation B. Scott is known for his glamorous larger than life personality that is elevated by fierce makeup and hair at all times, but when it came time to host the BET Awards red carpet, he was asked to switch things up.
According to bits and pieces gathered from B. Scott, BET allegedly asked the personality to “tone down” his look and not wear heels or dramatic makeup to host the carpet. In a series of tweets, the multi-media star came to disclose that he had a last-minute outfit change as a result of the restriction, but his fans were quick to come to his defense.
The details of what exactly went down is murky, but his tweets reveal that B. Scott clearly had a hard time with BET.

I’m sorry if I let anybody down today, I tried my best and it wasn’t enough.

My TRUE saving grace was the Procter & Gamble consultant, who said: “We at P&G do not support what they are doing to you.”

BET hasn’t spoken out on the offense as of yet, but we’re hoping to hear from them soon. Check out more tweets of support to B. Scott here.
