This is just sick…

Carri and Larry Williams of Washington State were both sentenced to over 20 years in prison today for the death of their adoptive daughter, Hana Williams.

Hana, 13, was found dead in May 2011 in the couple’s backyard due to starvation and hypothermia. Carri Williams made her biological son call the police and tell them that Hana killed herself, even though she was actually forced outside in 40 degree weather by her adopted parents.

Hana, a native of Ethiopia, was adopted by the couple when she was just 9-years-old. The couple have now lost custody of their seven biological children and Immanuel, another Ethiopian child they adopted in 2008, who is also deaf.

According to the Daily Mail, the couple home-schooled all of their children, but the biological kids didn’t face the constant abuse that Immanuel and Hana did. When the two children didn’t obey the rules, they were hosed down, fed frozen food, and forced to listen to bible scriptures while locked in closets. Immanuel’s new foster mother Sheila Jackson claims that the 12-year-old’s body was filled with scars and his ribs were showing out of his skin when he came into her care.

Jackson, who is deaf, told the jury in a Mount Vernon courtroom that when the Williamses’ son Immanuel, who was also adopted from Ethiopia, came to live with her, she could barely keep up with his demands for food.

‘He ate fast. He ate a lot. He ate more than I expected,’ she told on the stand, the station KIRO-TV reported.

During the couple’s testimony, Larry Williams claimed that Carri was the main abuser, even giving the biological children permission to spank the adopted children.

The couple was convicted of voluntary manslaughter — Carri Williams receiving a maximum of 37 years, while Larry Williams got a maximum of 25 years. The couple cried in court upon hearing the verdict.

According to the police, they were actually unaware of Hana’s actual age, but it is believed that she is under 15-years-old.

May she finally rest in peace.
