UPDATE: 12/4/13 1:14pm
The Paul Walker autopsy reports are in. The LA Coroner’s office has just released the results of the autopsies on Paul Walker and Roger Rodas.
Paul Walker died from the combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries … this according to the L.A. County Coroner’s Office.
Roger died from multiple traumatic injuries. Burning was not listed as a factor in his death.
The autopsy was delayed in order for the coroner to receive dental records, which were used to help identify the bodies of both victims.
Fast & Furious actor Paul Walker lost his life in a fiery crash over the weekend. Already, the actor’s family and friends have received an outpouring of support, and costars like Vin Diesel spoke at a private vigil held at the crash site in Santa Clarita, CA.
Now, new information has been released regarding the accident. The LA Coroner’s office has completed their autopsy report on both Paul Walker and friend Roger Rodas, who was believed to be driving the 2005 Porsche GT Carrera. The autopsy was initially delayed because they were waiting on dental records to identify the bodies.
Now that the autopsy is complete, the results of those findings have been placed on a security hold. US Weekly spoke to Lieutenant Fred Corral, who informed them, “No information is to be released on either decedent at this time.”
Meanwhile, new video footage of the crash shows that the vehicle didn’t catch on fire until about a full minute after hitting a pole. This matches up with what one of Paul’s friends – who was one of the first people on the scene – told reporters:
“He was trapped, I could see him. He was unconscious. I was trying to put out the flames, his employees and brothers at heart were also trying. They were reaching into the car and trying to undo his seat belt.”
The video also yet again rules out the rumor that Paul and Roger were racing at the time of the crash. Investigators believe speed played a part, however the car also had a history of mechanical issues. Porsche even paid out a huge settlement to two people who were involved in a similar crash.
According to the lawsuit, two men (a driver and his passenger) were killed on a California race track while driving a 2005 Carrera GT … hitting a wall at over 100 MPH while trying to avoid another car on the track.
The family of the passenger sued practically everyone involved in the accident for gross negligence — and won $4.5 million in a giant settlement … $350,000 of which was paid by Porsche.
In a recent interview with EW, The Rock spoke about his connection with Paul Walker:
“The most important thing that we had in common was the importance of family time and being a great father to our daughters. We bonded over that.”
While both Tyrese and Vin Diesel have spoken about their relationship with their Fast & Furious costar, fellow franchise actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also said Walker’s daughter was the first thing he thought about when he heard the news.
“Not surprisingly, when I got the news that he had passed away, the first words out of my mouth were, “He has a daughter.” It’s very sad. We can’t help but to hope that their final time together was beautiful and strong and an amazing memory.”
The Rock and Paul shared many things in common, including love for cars and family.
“It was always the number one topic we would talk about. We would talk about silly guy things, his fast cars and my pickup trucks, or we would talk about the beautiful energy of Hawaii — but it always ultimately came back to family. And very specifically the beautiful and important bond between a father and his daughter, and how we both realized that over the years.”
It is unfortunate that claims are being made to the media that Paul’s daughter Meadow was at the event on Saturday when the accident occurred. We want to clarify that Paul went to the event alone. Meadow was not at the charity event on Saturday and thankfully, did not witness the accident. Any claims stating otherwise are inaccurate.
Sadly, there’s also numerous people creating fake social media profiles claiming to be Meadow. We would like everyone to know that Meadow does not currently have any public profiles and is not currently active on social media. We ask that her privacy be respected at this time.
