The father of a 6-month-old girl is under fire after posting a picture on Facebook of the baby holding a rifle at a Connecticut gun store, just 20 miles from the scene of the Sandy Hook massacre. The father, Christopher Duffy, purchased the rifle baby Genevieve was holding on Tuesday from Woodbridge Firearms. In response to the outrage, Duffy insists the gun was safe. “Other people being upset about it? I don’t force their kids to do anything. I don’t force them to do anything,” said Duffy. “My hand was on it, the bolt was open, it was safety checked. I’m not sure how wide the picture is. She’s clearly in her seat just sitting up, one hand on the scope, one hand on the barrel.” At the very basic level of things, babies and guns just don’t mix. We’re just saying. Egypt’s army is creating quite the buzz after announcing that they have invented a cure for AIDS and hepatitis C. “I defeated AIDS with the grace of my God at the rate of 100% . And I defeated hepatitis C,” said Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Abdel-Atti, head of the Cancer Treatment and Screening center. But not everyone is convinced. The world’s medical community is a bit skeptical about the claims, saying that Egypt’s announcement is nothing more than a scientific scandal. “I want to be clear and explicit, what has been said and published about the invention of the armed forces hurts the image of scientists and science in Egypt,” Essam Heggy, the scientific adviser to the President, told the private Al Watan newspaper Tuesday. Making his first public appearance since being ousted last Saturday, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych spoke in Russia on Friday, insisting he remain the country’s legitimate elected leader. “I intend to continue the fight for the future of Ukraine against those who, with fear and with terror, are attempting to replace the power,” he said, speaking Russian, not Ukrainian. “Nobody has overturned me. I was compelled to leave Ukraine due to a direct threat to my life and my nearest and dearest.” He continued, calling the newly appointed interim government illegitimate. Read about it here…[CNN]
